Joel Dommett promises new Masked Singer costumes are ‘big step up’ from first series

Joel Dommett has promised ‘The Masked Singer’ is taking “a big step up” for its second series.
The 35-year-old comedian – who is returning as the host of the UK version of the hit talent show – admitted he’s had a sneak preview of the elaborate costumes which will be worn by the next crop of secret celebrities.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Friday (21.08.20), he said: “I got a little PDF of the new characters and they’re amazing, a big step up from last year.”
One big change for the upcoming second season will see Mo Gilligan replace ‘The Hangover’ actor Ken Jeong on the panel.
Ken – who is still expected to judge on the US version of ‘The Masked Singer’ – has been ruled out of a return due to travel restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Mo will team up with panellists Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross on the show, and Joel has high hopes for his new co-star.
He added: “It’s such an amazing addition. It’s going to be so good.
“I’ve known Mo for ages – very funny dude. I think he’s going to be brilliant”
Ken has admitted he’s “gutted” to be missing out on the second series, but he couldn’t resist a lighthearted joke about the current health crisis.
He quipped: “I had so much fun on season one of ‘The Masked Singer UK’, I told the team nothing short of a global pandemic would stop me from coming back for season two.
“I am gutted because I truly love working with Joel, Rita, Davina, Jonathan and everyone at Bandicoot and ITV.
“I hope, when things start to normalise, I can return and offer my expertise on all things British, like the Australian Open. Please take care, be safe, and as the title of the show suggests, wear a mask.”
