Mariah Carey's tribute to George Michael

ICONINSIDER — Mariah Carey honoured George Michael at her concert in Dubai on Friday (31.03.17).
The ‘Hero’ hitmaker paid a heartfelt tribute to the late singer – whose funeral took place last week, three months after he was found dead from natural causes on Christmas Day (25.12.16) – with a cover of his 1987 ballad ‘One More Try’, which she described as “one of his greatest records”.
She told her audience: “I always loved it, I always loved him. He was a really great person.”
The 47-year-old singer asked the crowd to use their phones to shine lights in honour of George, and sighed before she said: “We’ll make it through this.”
Mariah shared a video of the performance on Facebook, describing it as her “heartfelt tribute”.
She captioned the video: “We miss you, George Michael.”
This isn’t the first time Mariah has honoured one of her heroes at a concert.
Shortly after Prince died from a Fentanyl overdose last April, she asked her audience in Paris for a moment of silence to reflect on the ‘Purple Rain’ hitmaker.
She said: “He was a friend to me too and he talked me through some times I really, really needed somebody … he was an incredible person if you didn’t ever get to meet him and I’m sure his music touched every single person in here. So, let’s have a moment of silence for Prince if we could please …
“It’s a very sad day but we remember the life of somebody who will always be treasured … It’s such a loss that he’s gone. I’ll never get over it.”
