Prince William thanks emergency services after London attack

ICONINSIDER — Prince William visited St Thomas’ Hospital to thank the emergency services for their work during the London terror attack.
The 34-year-old royal met with medical staff at the Westminster hospital on Thursday (30.03.17) to thank them personally for their life-saving efforts during the attack last week which took place outside the Houses of Parliament when Khalid Masood mowed down pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before stabbing and killing police officer Keith Palmer, and eventually being shot by armed police.
A Kensington Palace spokeswoman told Hello magazine: “The Duke wanted to visit privately with some of those who were first to respond to the attacks.”
William arrived at the hospital late on Thursday morning, and spoke with a number of those involved in the response team including A&E consultants, junior doctors, and security manager Carl McIntosh who raised the alarm to ensure the hospital was placed under lockdown following the attack.
London Ambulance Service chairman Heather Lawrence said: “Our frontline crews and control room staff did an exceptional job in incredibly difficult circumstances. They stayed calm and provided excellent care to those affected and we are very grateful that Prince William has recognised everyone’s efforts.”
Prince William’s visit to the hospital comes after his father, Prince Charles, made a similar visit to King’s College Hospital last week.
Meanwhile, William has also paid tribute to the late PC Keith Palmer with a wreath at the police memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire on Wednesday (29.03.17)
The royal attached a hand-written note to the display praising Keith and everyone who has served for the community “so valiantly”.
It read: “For PC Keith Palmer and all those who have served our community so valiantly; your legacy is our way of life. William.”
William – who has three-year-old son Prince George and 22-month-old daughter Princess Charlotte with his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – also officially opened the new remembrance centre during his visit.
