Darren Criss engaged
ICONINSIDER — Darren Criss is engaged.
The former ‘Glee’ star proposed to his longtime love Mia Swier after seven years of dating and took to Instagram to share the happy news.
Posting a picture of them together, he wrote: “Mia and I have had seven and a half years of fun, wacky, wonderful, CRAZY adventures together. And I’m happy to announce that we’re kicking those adventures up a notch. We’re goin for it. To boldly go where neither of us have gone before. Engage.”
Along with joy in his personal life, Darren is also enjoying success in his professional life and he is currently playing serial killer Andrew Cunanan in the ‘American Crime Story’ franchise, ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace’.
And he revealed that he and series creator Ryan Murphy have been talking about the role for years.
He said: “My reaction was, I’d be thrilled to do this. I thought it was something he forgot about and was just spitballing. But he stuck to his word, and I’m so glad he finally decided to do this.”
Darren added that he wasn’t worried about playing a serial killer as it was no greater challenge than any other character.
Speaking on Variety’s ‘Remote Controlled’, podcast, he said: “People always think that’s some sort of departure, and while I understand that curiosity, I can’t help but feel that same curiosity would be present if I had started with something like this, and this is what you knew me for. People forget that actors are actors, and we depart for a living.”
“We all have more in common not only with each other, but the worst person you can think of than we like to admit. differences are small in number but huge in content.”
“The show explores the best parts of him and the worst parts of him. It’s really a healthy mix of a lot of unhealthy things.”
