Dermot O’Leary to host new family show for ITV?

VacationHunter — Dermot O’Leary has been approached to host a new family series on ITV.
After landing a regular co-hosting gig on ‘This Morning’, the ‘X Factor’ host is reportedly set to front the new “feel-good” show for the broadcaster, which will see families go on a “once-in-a-lifetime” trip aimed to help strengthen their bond.
Families will also compete against other families with a series of challenges, involving “building, craft and constructing”, to be crowned the winner.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: A source said: “This past year has been an incredibly hard one for families who have been forced apart by the pandemic.
“This upbeat competition series hopes to not only celebrate and nurture those bonds but pit the duos against others with a series of challenging tasks in the great outdoors.
“By teaching and sharing their knowledge of life skills such as building, craft and constructing, not only are the teams hoping to win but also learn more about their roots and strengthen the bonds of their friendships.
“Producers hope the show will be a fun and inspiring competition format at a time when the whole country can at last spend more time with their loved ones.
“To make it the ultimate feel-good   show, new dad Dermot has been invited to join the adventure as host.”
Last year, Dermot became a regular host on ‘This Morning’ alongside Alison Hammond.
Meanwhile, the presenter recently hinted ‘The X Factor’ may not return until 2023.
The 47-year-old star – who first hosted ITV’s singing competition in 2007 – opened up on the talent show’s hiatus and when fans can expect to see it back on air.
He said earlier this month: “I can’t see it coming back this year. If it does come back, it’ll be 2022 – maybe 2023.”
