Kevin Spacey’s House of Cards character to be killed off?

ICONINSIDER — Kevin Spacey’s ‘House of Cards’ character could be killed off amid allegations of sexual misconduct made against him.
The 58-year-old actor has been accused of sexual misconduct against a string of people – including actor Anthony Rapp, who alleges Spacey made a sexual advance towards him when he was just 14-years-old – and Netflix officials are reportedly heading back to the drawing board to see how they can possibly end the sixth and final season without Spacey’s involvement.
In the show, Spacey plays villainous Francis Underwood and it is thought the writers could instead focus on his equally villainous wife Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright.
Variety reports that up to 300 cast and crew members could be out of a job if they chose not to shoot a sixth season.
And now celebrities are calling for the show to focus on Claire.
Jessica Chastain wrote on social media: “Can RobinWright just be the lead of @HouseofCards now? We’re ready for it. (sic)”
Since the allegations against Spacey came to light, ‘House of Cards’ was indefinitely suspended.
In a joint statement, Netflix and MRC said: “MRC and Netflix have decided to suspend production on House of Cards season six, until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew.”
Netflix had also previously announced that ‘House of Cards’ will end with its upcoming season.
A statement released on Monday (30.10.17) read: “Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night’s news concerning Kevin Spacey.
“In response to last night’s revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported. As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time.”
